Lecture on Richard Hayward to take place at Longford Family Centre

The Family Centre in Longford town will be the venue for County Longford Historical Society’s next lecture next Tuesday

County Longford Historical Society’s next lecture will take place at 8 pm on Tuesday, 25 April, in the Family Centre, St Mel’s Road, Longford.

 

Writer and broadcaster, Paul Clements will speak about the writer Richard Hayward (1892-1964).

Hayward was a writer, singer and actor, who was well-know all over Ireland in the middle of the last century. One of his travel books is Where the River Shannon flows (1940), in which he described a journey along the length of the river.

A journalist, author and broadcaster, Paul Clements has written five travel books and a biography of Richard Hayward, adapted for BBC television. He is also the author of a very recent biography of the Welsh historian Jan Morris.
