Presidential candidate Michael D Higgins spent a short time in Longford on Thursday. The Labour Party candidate will stop off in the town en route to the Boyle Arts Festival where he is giving a poetry reading over the weekend.
His visit to Longford was just one day after his potential rival Sean Gallagher. Mr Gallagher was in Longford on Wednesday where he visited St Christopher’s, Panelto Foods and Longford Shopping Centre. In the evening, he went to Drumlish where he met with members of the Fr Manning Gaels GAA Club. He also found the time in a busy schedule to get a haircut in Zara Hair Salon.
