A new superintendent is to be appointed to the Granard Garda District, writes Liam Cosgrove.
Crumlin-based Inspector, Sheamus McCormack, will officially take over at the helm over the next few days following a reshuffle of Garda senior management.
He takes over from Supt Tom Murphy, who was reassigned to Dublin’s Divisional Traffic unit in March.
Fine Gael Cllr Micheal Carrigy said the announcement couldn’t have come at a better time.
“We, as local representatives, welcome the commitment to maintaining the Granard District within the Longford/Roscommon region,” he said. It comes after the recent appointment of Monaghan’s Fergus Treanor as Longford Superintendent.
