St. Columba's G.F.C held their weekly lotto draw in the Hideaway on Wednesday 22nd December. The numbers drawn were 8, 9. 22, 25. As the numbers were not chosen by anyone the jackpot of 2550 euro remained intact. Consolation prizes of 20 euro each were won by the following. Ciarn Keogh, Larkfield, Dring, Longford. St. Columba's G.F.C and the committee attached to the community centre held their massive draw on Monday night. We are delighted to announce that with the co-operation and effort put in by all concerned that this venture was an outstanding success. Mullinalaghta / Mullahoran gun club wish to inform their supporters and friends that a clay-pigeon shooting club has been set up. All interesting in joining or seeking further information are requested to contact 087 6640466. A clay shoot will take place for Christmas with the date to be confirmed. To help to defray expenses a raffle has been organised for a Christmas hamper and numerous other prizes. Tickets are available from members and in local shops. Your support would be be very much appreciated.


The annual general meeting of St. Columba's G.F.C will take place in the clubrooms on Sunday 9th January at 3.00p.m sharp. Nomination forms are being distributed which must be returned by Thursday 6th January. Your co-operation with returning forms would be very much appreciated as nominations have to be printed prior to meeting. All who put forward motions must attend meeting. Please note nominations cannot be accepted on the day of the meeting.


Longford Community Resources Ltd (LCRL) are delighted with the announcement in the recent Budget that the Rural Transport Programme will be continued in 2011, even with a slightly reduced funding. This is great news and indeed a relief for all the passengers who use the service. Many thanks to them and to all the stakeholders who have supported, and indeed campaigned for the continuation of the programme throughout the year. All routes for 2010 will be completed on Thursday 23rd December . Services for 2011 will resume on Tuesday 4th January.
