COMMUNITY GAMES: Cullyfad Community Centre played host to the Longford Community Games county semi-finals and finals on Friday night last, the 4th of Feb.

COMMUNITY GAMES: Cullyfad Community Centre played host to the Longford Community Games county semi-finals and finals on Friday night last, the 4th of Feb.

Our three Killoe teams swept the boards with our U10, U12 and U14 teams taking the county titles. The U10 team had a particularly tough battle on their hands and their final went on late into the evening. Congratulations to team members Ciaran Bracken, Niamh Harte, Matthew Lenehan, Emily McCarthy, Anna Moorhead and Aishling Morrissey. U12 team members are Enda Bracken, Liam Harte, David Heffernan, Evan Farrelly, Euan Finneran, Niall Finneran and Shane Morrissey. U14 team members are Katie Morrissey, James Bracken, Niall Farrelly, Keith Gray, Brian Harte, Ronan Hughes and Jack Sorohan. Congratulations to all three teams on taking county gold medals – it's a great accomplishment. Many thanks to managers/trainers Catherine Bracken, Raymond Murphy and Brian Finneran. Good luck to you all in your Leinster games.

On Saturday the 5th of Feb., our U15 boys indoor soccer team played a tough county final game against Colmcille. The Killoe team emerged winners with a final result of 1-0. Congratulations to team members Oisn Bennett, Aaron Clyne, Ciarn Donohoe, Cathal Flynn, Michel Hughes, David McCarthy, Conor Moran, Ryan Moffett and also to manager/trainer Mark Hughes on your great achievement. Good luck with the Leinster rounds lads.


Emmet Og Killoe annual dinner dance. Are you all seated and ready for a good nosh up. Venue the Longford Arms Hotel Longford on Saturday 12 February 2011. Dinner served at 8.30pm sharp. Presentation of medals to the ladies team and then a quick foxtrot to the music of the Dance on Band. Tickets 35 euro pp available from all club officers or local outlets.


One defibrillator has been purchased and 36 people are trained in its use, courtesy of Cullyfad Community Groups. This defibrillator will be placed at Cullyfad Community Centre. We plan to buy further defibrillators and place them at strategic points within the catchment area. We are currently dropping leaflets into all houses in the area outlining the project and asking for your assistance to purchase more defibrillators. We welcome all donations no matter how small appreciating that times are difficult. We will notify all households of contact numbers of those trained. The ambulance service will also have the numbers of trained members and in the event that there is an emergency they will contact someone to assist while awaiting the arrival of a Paramedic


Killoe branch ICA meeting will be held on Tuesday 15 February 20112 in Ennybegs Community Centre at 8.30pm. New members are very welcome.

We would ask parishioners to rummage in their drawers under the beds or op top of cupboards anywhere there might be old unwanted mobile phones which you can donate to help the erection of a defibrillator in the Ennybegs village area. This programme is run in conjunction with the Irish Red Cross who will also train 6 persons to support the use of same. Old phones can be handed in at Hughes/ Begleys shops in the area or contact Sean Clarke tel 086 2266498. Many thanks to everyone for support.
