Community Games

Pride of place this week definately must go to the Killashee U15 girls who defeated Ballymahon on Saturday morning last in the indoor soccer final with a very convincing score of 8 goals to 1 goal. Before the game a minutes silence was observed for Frank Cox RIP grandfaher of Emer Casey. Such was the pride and commitment of these girls that a number of them should have been in the doctors waiting room but they would not let each other down and they were justly rewarded. The full panel of U15 girls is Ruth Kavanagh, Aoife Magan, Allannah Dolan, Lisa Nolan Emer Casey and Kyana Lee (captain) as they prepare for the Leinster qualifiers. Well done to the boys and girls who took part in all the indoor soccer competitions. Its great to see so many children from the parish getting a chance to take part in all the different competitons. The boys U13 team was Simon Mulvey, Dylan Farrell,Rian Cox, Paddy Duggan, Dylan Glancy, Conor Casey and Jack Magan. The U15 team put on a great display despite the fact that there was only four players . Well done lads to Cillian Lee,Eoin Cousins, Liam Duffy and Patrick Grogan.. The U13 girls team were defeated in the semi final by Carrickedmond who eventually won the competition. The team was Aoife Kavanagh, Emer Tyrell, Tamara Lee, Orla Duffy, Eadaoin Regan, Tonicha Lee & Clodagh Kiely.

The late Frank Cox

It is with regret that we record the passing of Frank Cox, Begnagh. Frank was one of the oldest member of our community. He was a native of Co Roscommom but moved to Killashee over 60 years ago.Frank along with his wife Frances (nee Doyle) worked the land and reared their family of three daughters. Frank was a great family man and enjoyed nothing bettrer than the company of his beloved grandchildren Sinead, Emer and Conor, Shane and Niamh, Evan Philip and Amy. He will be sadly missed by all his family. Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife Frances , daughters Caitriona (Casey),Mary (Garrahan) and Geraldine (Chalmers), sons in law, Padraig , Donal and Robert , grandchildren, relatives and friends. Funeral Mass took place in St Patrick's Church Killashee on Sunday last and burial afterwards in Ballinakill cemetery. May his soul rest in peace.

Well done

Well done to David Dolan and his band mates Dutch Courage who performed brilliantly in the final of Youth Factor last weekend. Unfortunately success was not to be in the final but these lads have a very bright future in the music world if they choose to persue it. We wish them every success in the future.
