LOCAL DEATHS: During the past week two more of our well known and respected parionishers passed away.

Early last week Marcella Mullen better known locally as Cella passed away at Mullingar General Hospital. Cella was a very popular parionisher and was known as a great signer who was a member of the Abbeyshrule church choir for a long number of years. Cella was also sacristan of Abbeyshrule church a job which she carried out for most of her adult lifetime.

She will be sadly missed by all that knew her especially her daughters Mary, Cora, Marcella and Geraldine, and sons Tom, Jim, Frank and Tony other relatives and friends to whom we extend our sincere sympathy.

On Thursday of last week word broke of another death of a very popular and quiet parionisher Jimmy Connell Abbeyshrule following a long illness. Jimmy was very well known locally and ran a very successful local shop business in Abbeyshrule up until his retirement. Jimmy also provided people from the area with a very good service through his travelling shop and was a very popular visitor to many houses in the parish for years as he supplied families with their weekly home shopping at their doorstep. Jimmy is survived by his wife Patricia, daughters Marie, Helen and Marta, sons Danny John and James to whom we extend our sincere sympathy.

Both Cella and Jimmy were laid to rest in Abbeyshrule cemetery. May they both now rest in peace.
