Mattie Fox and friends come together for an evening of nostalgia at Backstage Theatre, Longford on Thursday, February 16 at 8pm
For a man who has been in the music business for all of his adult life and has travelled the world with top Irish artistes - all he wants to do nowadays is just sing!
And Mattie Fox has good reason to celebrate, having been one of the lucky ones who survived a stroke in 2014 and been given a second chance to share his talent with others.
Having tested the waters last September by putting on a concert in his local church in Ballinalee, Mattie is now preparing for his upcoming show in Longford’s Backstage Theatre on Thursday, February 16 at 8pm.
It promises to be a night of nostalgia with songs from past and present delivered in his “nut brown” voice.
Mattie’s long time friends from his past performing life are providing his backing music & contributing their own solos.
The renowned fiddle player, Charlie Arkins played in the Grassroots Showband with Mattie, while Eddie Quinn on drums and vocals, and Dessie Hynes on piano, accordion, whistle, performed in the cabaret group Misty with him.
Matt Leavy on rhythm guitar and vocals, and Pat Creegan on fretless bass complete the ensemble.
This two hour show, with some of the best musicians in the business, is not to be missed. Tickets, costing €20, for the
Backstage Theatre concert on Thursday, February 16 at 8pm can be purchased at www.backstage.ie
