Welcome to the 2013-14 School Year! A special welcome to all the first year students who have joined us this year. We hope you are settling in well. We hope that all the students, teachers and staff had a wonderful summer and that everyone is refreshed and ready to get back to work again. As the Irish proverb says, “Tús maith, leath na hoibre!”
Success at Horse Fair:
Last month, three of our students took part in the highly-acclaimed Discover Ireland Dublin Horse Fair, held in the RDS. Joanne Whyte, fifth year, came 4th in the Working Hunter class. Viola Callaghan, second year, finished 3rd in the Junior Equitation class and 5th in the Working Hunter class.
Well done to the Longford Slashers U14 Camogie team who were crowned Division 5 All-Ireland champions last Sunday at Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada in Leitrim. The girls fought off stiff competition from Leitrim and beat Sligo in the final to take home the coveted Michael Kennedy Cup. A number of our students contributed to this great victory. They were Ciara Finnegan, Éadaoin Regan, Amy Harper, Ailbhe O’Rourke, Maria Knox and Sinéad Mulhern, who also captained the team.
Best of luck to all the students who will be anxiously awaiting the results of their Junior Cert exams on Wednesday, September 11.
The school coffee morning in aid of St Joseph’s Hospice will take place on Friday, September 13. This will be followed by the School Mass in St Mel’s Cathedral Centre. School will close for the day after Mass.
