HAIL housing association marks one year in Longford

HAIL, a specialist housing association primarily for people with mental health difficulties, is marking one year since it launched its HSE Stock Transfer Project in Longford.

The HSE Stock Transfer Project was established under the Government’s National Housing Strategy for People with a Disability.

The HSE Stock Transfer Project supports those transitioning from HSE residences to independent single or shared living in the community. HAIL currently provides nine units in Longford under the Project.

Commenting on the success of the HSE Stock Transfer Project in Longford, Martina Smith CEO of HAIL, said: “We are proud of how well the HSE Stock Transfer Project has worked in Longford. It has been successful in supporting our clients to live independently and integrate into the community.

“Providing a home can be hugely transformative to the lives of people living with mental health difficulties. It can support them in their recovery and help them avoid hospitalisation or homelessness. The HSE Stock Transfer Project in Longford has shown the importance of this.

“HAIL would like to thank the HSE, The Housing Agency and Longford County Council for supporting the Project. We look forward to continuing to work with our stakeholders in Longford to support people in the county living with mental health difficulties who need a home.”

The housing association currently provides 440 homes across Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Offaly, Longford and Limerick. In 2022, HAIL delivered mental health tenancy support services to a record 586 people.
