This service offers a telephone call up to five mornings per week just to check that people are well. Gardai in Ballinagh are carrying out investigations to serious criminal activity at Ashgrove estate on Granard Road Ballinagh which saw eight houses broken into and the copper cylinders and related copper wiring stolen. The damage is believed to amount to several thousand euro and is thought to have occurred between 6pm on New Years Eve and 1pm on Sunday January 2nd. People who may have noticed any unusual activity in Ashgrove Estate during the period mentioned or who have any information no matter how small are asked to please contact Ballinagh garda station.


Sympathy is extended to Mr Philip Brady and family Arva on the death of Mrs Marie Brady (nee Duignan) an extremely kind charitable and highly respected resident her passing is widely mourned.


The death took place in Scarborough Birchmount Grace Hospital Toronto Canada of Mrs Siobhan Kelly,daughter of the late Pat and Mrs McSeain Cornafean. A popular figure in the district before leaving her homeland in 1955. She was involved in the Irish Canadian Community and in the Emerald Isle senior choir. She came to Ireland each year and enjoyed meeting up with her countless friends. Predeceased by her husband Kit in 1968 and sons Fergus Niall and Enda , sisters Ita and Maeve and brothers Enda and Greg. She is survived by her children Deirdre, Mary Donal,Finnan Pat Emer Michael Norah, Sean and Kathleen 32 grandchildren , 22 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, sisters Mrs Nonie Gormley Cormore and Barney McSeain Cornafean and brothers Peader Monely Ballinagh, Tom in Cornfean and Dermot New York nephews and nieces to whom I extend the sympathy of our community.
