Fine Gael County Councillor Peggy Nolan has laughed off talk she may be about to quit politics as she continues to recover from a mild health scare this week.
The Longford town native spent two days in Dublin’s Blackrock Clinic undergoing a series of medical tests for a stress-related illness.
Now back home, Cllr Nolan said the episode had come as a sharp wake-up call, but was one she insisted would not interfere with her everyday political duties.
“No, I am not calling it a day,” she said in typically upbeat fashion. “I am just so passionate about what I am doing, so no I am not going anywhere.”
Quizzed about what may have caused the setback, Cllr Nolan said her recollection of events last Wednesday morning remain a mystery.
“I finished doing an interview on radio but after that, I can’t remember where I was. It was the scariest seven minutes of my life,” she said.
