Longford Municipal District Meet the Candidate: Tony Reilly, Independent
Newtownforbes resident Tony Reilly is running once again as an Independent in the Longford Municipal Area.
He is standing on an anti corruption platform.
“In reference to non democratic elections, if all concerned residents chose to do the same, it could easily spread nationwide, and also result in bringing serious changes in the 2024 Local & European Fictional Elections,” according to his Facebook page.
“Why let non democratic governments browbeat residents once again in June's Local & European Elections. Why let non democratic government achieve the representatives that they want representing residents once again,” Mr Reilly added.
In the 2019 Local Elections, items on Tony's agenda included looking after the elderly in the area; ensuring sufficient mental health services for the people of Longford; employment and legal related issues; and support for small business owners.
Tony believes that people have the right to work in a safe environment, free from harassment and discrimination, with fair wages, treatment and adequate holidays and rest periods.
“Workplace law can be extremely confusing to a lot of employees. I pledge to help make it as easy to resolve any issue an employee may have and explain what your rights are,” he stated.
