Longford Municipal District Meet the Candidate: Peggy Nolan, Fine Gael
Long serving Fine Gael Councillor Peggy Nolan is seeking another term as a local representative. Peggy is a particularly capable, competent and experienced public representative and she has been heavily involved in the community for many years now and is a councillor for Longford Municipal District since 2004.
She is married to Paddy and they have three grown up children and the couple are also very proud of their grandchildren.
Peggy acted as chair of the Gathering Committee for Co. Longford. This was one of the most successful groups in terms of organised events and came third nationally in terms of activities.
She helped secure the provision of a multimillion investment for St Joseph's Care Centre on the Dublin Road, Longford.
She served as Cathaoirleach of Longford County Council from 2021-22.
Cllr Nolan also worked hard with the council on the rejuvenation of the Camlin quarter at the bottom of Longford town. In 2022, she defended the reputation of Longford town following assaults in the town.
''There's nearly 41,000 people living in this county. And can I tell you, I'd say there's about 30 that are spoiling the peace and tranquillity and the greatness that is within this county,” she stated.
Cllr Nolan is a passionate advocate for St Christopher’s Services and spoke at length about the importance of the centre at a recent council meeting.
