Longford Local Elections 2024: Driven by a vision to transform Longford

Green Party candidate Catherine Joseph says her decision to run for the council is driven by a vision to transform Longford into a vibrant town where young people can live, work, and raise families.

She adds, “As a proud resident of Longford, originally from Nigeria, I relocated to Ireland eleven years ago and have since dedicated my career to community building and integration.”

Her professional background encompasses hospitality management and international relations, and she is currently an Integration Consultant, assisting migrants in settling into their new communities.

Catherine is the founder of Longford’s Ethnic Minority Hub, a community organisation that supports migrants by providing essential information, training, and general support.

For the past two years, she has been actively representing the Green Party on the ground in Longford.

The key pillars of her campaign are advocating for the establishment of a higher education institution in Longford; the creation of an inclusive community where everyone feels valued and the establishment of a community centre.

Catherine is committed to improving Longford’s image from being perceived as unsafe to becoming a secure and attractive town for business and investment.

She is also dedicated to working for the protection of nature and climate, ensuring a healthy future for Longford.
