Longford Municipal District Meet the Candidate: Kevin Hussey, Fianna Fáil
Kevin Hussey is running as a candidate for Fianna Fáil in Longford Municipal District. Kevin runs the family’s dry cleaning business in Longford town.
He is vice-chair of Longford Variety Group. The Variety Group has raised in excess of €250,000 for local charities over the past 20 years.
Kevin’s priorities include delivering more affordable housing in Longford. He also wants to prioritise mental health services for young people, by way of readily available counselling services.
Kevin also wants more activities and amenities for young people in Longford, including age appropriate opportunities to build on positive social behaviour and well being.
He also wants greater supports for children with disabilities and their families. This would include home therapy, and more staff and therapists, in order to prevent long waiting times for diagnosis.
He also wants delivery of the planned autism-friendly playground on Park Road with additional autism-centred amenities.
In his spare time, he has been a DJ for the past 20 years. This has included running youth discos for teenagers in Longford Town, providing a much needed safe space for them to have fun.
He has been involved in the Variety Group for the past 10 years.
Kevin is passionate about his home town. If the people of Longford vote for him, he feels that he can do so much more.
