Longford Municipal District Meet the Candidate: Maura Greene-Casey, Independent
Maura Greene Casey, a secondary teacher, is running as an Independent candidate.
Educated at Maynooth University and graduating with a degree in History, Irish & Theology, Maura has taught in Moyne Community School, Árdscoil Phádraig Granard and Templemichael College Longford.
Currently, Maura is Assistant Principal with responsibilities for the PLC sector at Longford College of Further Education, which is the PLC provision of Templemichael College.
Originally reared on a farm at Edgeworthstown, Maura lives in the Newtownforbes - Clondra area for thirty years after marrying Joseph Casey. Sadly Joseph passed away in 2001.
Maura is no stranger to canvassing, having canvassed for President Mary McAleese who is a close family friend during the Presidential Campaign in 1997. Maura has also been a past member of the Newtownforbes Fine Gael branch.
She would like to see the upgrade and expansion of Longford College of Further Education (CFE) as a major educational facility in the town.
Maura says, “I am taking a principled stand on issues such as the rejuvenation of Longford town, affordable housing and rural regeneration. I have a vision for the future of our local community and I am asking for your number one vote on June 7.”
