Longford Municipal District Meet the Candidate: James Donnelly, Sinn Féin
James Donnelly is Sinn Féin’s candidate in the Longford Municipal District and he describes himself as ‘a fighter, an advocate and a believer’.
James lives in Cullyfad with his partner Louise and their two children.
Raised in Edgeworthstown, he says he understands Longford’s unique demands and struggles.
“I spend my days putting in the hard yards as Head of Operations at Longford Town Football Club, but my commitment to Longford extends far beyond the pitch.”
He adds, “I shoulder the responsibilities as a Constituency Office manager for Sinn Féin, where the everyday challenges of our people become my battles. I regularly witness the struggles our community faces as a result of government policies. I believe we can do better. Together, let's make our voices louder and stronger than ever before.”
Asking the Longford MD electorate to ‘join him on this journey’ James outlines that his priorities include the delivery of more affordable and social housing.
He wants to see more amenities for small towns and villages; along with increased rural transport links and increased support for sports clubs.
He wants to help with bringing about better employment opportunities for people living in the area, increased support for community development groups and accountability on the county council.
