Ballymahon Municipal District Meet the Candidate: Paul Ross, Fine Gael
Fine Gael’s Paul Ross was first elected in 2014 and has proven himself a very hard working councillor with a record of delivering for his constituents.
Paul served as Cathaoirleach of Longford County Council from 2020-21.
A farmer and former Chairman of the Livestock committee of Longford IFA, he specialises in obtaining grants for a variety of community and sporting groups, as well as making sure his constituents can draw down grants and payments.
He is Chairperson of Legan Community Text Alert initiative. Paul is a founder member of Young Fine Gael in Longford.
As someone with three young children, he is aware of the issues facing young families and has worked with several after-school and creche facilities to ensure their viability.
His priorities for the next five years include: road safety, supporting family farms and cutting red tape in agriculture, ensuring affordable housing, and enhancing Garda numbers in towns.
As a former Longford County Footballer on the winning team who won the O’Byrne Cup in 2000, sports and health are important to Paul and he knows from his own experience that a healthy body is essential for a healthy mind.
Within this context he is committed to providing access to quality sporting facilities to all citizens.
He is a strong representative for Edgeworthstown (with no councillor based in the town).
