Ballymahon Municipal District Meet the Candidate: Pat O'Toole, Fianna Fáil
Former CEO of St Christopher’s Services and a former inter-county GAA referee, Pat O’Toole first claimed a council seat for Fianna Fáil in the Ballymahon Municipal District in the 2014 Local Election.
This year, he welcomed a number of funding announcements including an additional allocation of €23,767 from the Department of Children, Equality, Disability Integration and Youth to Bridgeways Family Resource Centre.
€30,000 under the Government’s Outdoor Recreation Scheme (ORIS) to lay a new black top surface at the car park close to the top of the Newcastle Road at Newcastle Woods.
Ballymahon was among 26 towns approved to develop Town Centre First plans and €30,000 was allocated to complete a comprehensive town plan.
Describing himself as an elected representative with the voice of experience, knowledge and common sense, Cllr O’Toole previously campaigned for a council development of 25/30 houses of an affordable, social and older person mix.
He is actively involved in a number of local groups, including the organisation of the Ballymahon St Patrick’s Day parade.
His 2024 election priorities are the development of a new affordable housing scheme in Ballymahon, ensuring the Pobal Le Cheile project - which he believes is a fabulous regeneration project - gets off the ground and to work with Irish Water to significantly upgrade the water sewage plant capacity in Ballymahon.
