Ballymahon Municipal District Meet the Candidate: Sean Mimnagh, Fianna Fáil

Sean Mimnagh is a well known figure in the Lanesboro area, in both business and sporting circles. He has a long standing involvement with local groups and organisations such as Rathcline GAA, Lanesboro Triathlon Club.


He played for Rathcline and also inter-county for Longford. Sean was also an accomplished GAA team manager. For 20 years, Sean ran the popular Shannon Grill Takeaway. In this role, he developed strong relationships within the community.


Sean now runs a successful property maintenance business. From this, he knows first hand the challenges facing startups and small businesses.


Among his priorities are championing job creation in tourism and food production. He also wants to pursue affordable housing and the right to build on family lands.


Sean also wants to prioritise tourism and capitalise on Just Transition funding.


An increased focus on community policing and crime prevention is another platform for his campaign.


Sean also wants to further develop sporting and recreational facilities, ensuring ease of access and participation for all, including disabled people.


He also wants to fast track the roll out of fibre broadband develop co-working hubs in Lanesboro, Newtowncashel, Killashee and surrounding areas.


Sean is asking for people’s support, as he is determined to make a real and lasting impact to his community as a local councillor.
