Ballymahon Municipal District Meet the Candidate: Niall Dowler, Independent
Niall Dowler is running as an Independent Candidate in the Ballymahon Municipal District. The secondary school teacher and building surveyor is no stranger to politics and has been heavily involved in many campaigns throughout his adult life.
Niall has chosen to stand as an Independent candidate as he feels the time is right to put his best foot forward on Friday, June 7.
Niall has key priorities that he wants to achieve if elected including;
* Ballymahon Streetscape : new road surfacing, new footpaths, new pedestrian crossings and improve public lighting
* Relocate the existing playground to include a designated sensory area as the current one is not safe or fit for purpose
* Lobby for public lighting along Canal walkways and for the completion of the public walkway along the River Inny from Ballymahon Bridge to Newcastle Bridge.
* Assisting Community Groups with grant applications to enable them access funding for developing their own specific projects.
* Expansion of the Rural Transport Scheme to help make it more accessible for people who need it in isolated areas where the current routes do not cover.
* Rejuvenate and make accessible the site of the old sports centre on the Moigh Road to help make it safe, prevent illegal dumping and promote health and wellbeing.
* Develop Community Policing resources
