Granard man Padraig McNamara is well known to as the local postmaster with over 27 years of service.
Throughout his career, he served on the National Executive of the Irish Postmasters Union and contributed to the National Agent Council of the National Lottery.
Additionally, he completed a 6-year term on the board of An Post, underscoring his commitment to the postal sector's evolution and sustainability.
Through his work in the Postmasters Union, Padraig understands the importance of cross-party support to access funding and support community-led initiatives.
Padraig has served on local primary and secondary school boards for three terms and has been an integral part of the Granard Motte Community Enterprise CLG for over a decade.
Padraig’s involvement with these boards deepened his understanding and commitment to local development and education.
His consistently proactive approach has led to direct negotiations with government officials. This culminated in a pivotal accomplishment last year - securing €30 million over three years to safeguard the post office network across communities.
