The future of Longford’s St Joseph’s Care Centre is all but secured following a €3m capital investment package

The future of Longford’s St Joseph’s Care Centre is all but secured following a €3m capital investment package.

The seven figure allocation will see 68 beds at the Dublin Road facility being refurbished and in so doing secure its status as a fully functioning healthcare facility.

Details surrounding the investment comes almost five years on from an initial multi million euro stimulus announcement made by then Health Minister Simon Harris.

Longford Westmeath Fianna Fáil TD Joe Flaherty said confirmation over the funding represented a “very important statement of intent” with contracts expected to be signed off on over the coming weeks.
