After an absence of two years owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, the County Longford Ploughing Championships, under NPA Rules, makes a hugely welcome return for 2022.
The Longford Ploughing Association has this week announced that the 2022 event will take place on Sunday, March 27 at Carra, Granard.
The Association posted on their Facebook page, "A special thanks to our hosts; John and Helen Kiernan for a site with excellent road frontage onto the N55 Cavan road and within walking distance of Granard town."
The County Longford Ploughing Championships were last staged on March 24, 2019 at Higginstown, Granard and on that occasion it was jointly hosted on the lands of Patrick Durkin and Sean Donohoe.
The main sponsors for the 2022 County Longford Ploughing Championships are Raymond and Linda Farrell at Robinstown Haulage and preparations are gathering pace ahead of what promises to be a great day of ploughing competitions.
With decades of experience in bringing music, entertainment and celebrity guests to fields across Longford, the Longford Ploughing Association hope to create that magical atmosphere again on John and Helen Kiernan's farm.
Fingers crossed for good weather so you can enjoy a taste of freedom, fresh Spring air and some excellent music in an outdoor setting.
