County Longford village selected as one of 15 pilot areas for rural taxi service

Cullyfad village in Co Longford has been selected by the National Transport Association (NTA) as one of 15 pilot areas in the country to trial a new rural taxi (REXI) service.

As part of the new local area hackney service, the driver must have their own car and license.

Details of the position are set to be advertised in the coming weeks and any successful applicant, will offer the service in conjunction with Longford/Westmeath rural transport. The successful applicant will receive a grant for €6,000.

Cllr Carrigy confirmed the news in a statement: “Delighted that Cullyfad has been selected by the NTA as one of the 15 pilot areas in the country for the new Local Area Hackney service licence.

“Details will be advertised shortly looking for applicants to carry out the service in conjunction with Longford/Westmeath Rural Transport.”
