Longford man pleads guilty to public disorder

A Longford man has been convicted and fined €250 for shouting at bystanders in public.

Danny Smith, 38 Palace Crescent, Longford pleaded guilty at last week’s sitting of Longford District Court to using or engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour at Dominick Street, Mullingar, Westmeath on November 20 last year.

He was also charged with a Section 4 public order charge as a result of the same incident. In court, it was revealed the Longford man had been found “shouting at people he didn’t know” and which later brought about his arrest.

He was consequently fined €250 for the Section 6 charge while the Section 4 charge was struck out.
