A Longford man was fined €400 for parking in a bus stop in Longford town by Judge Seamus Hughes last week.
A Longford man who told a garda he would “totally refuse” to pay a fixed penalty charge for parking in a bus stop has been fined €400 by Judge Seamus Hughes.
The court was told how Patrick Mongan, of 88 Springlawn, Ardnacassa, Longford had been approached by gardaí after his car was spotted parked up in a parking bay at Main Street, Longford on June 20 2018.
When asked to move on by the prosecuting garda, it was alleged Mr Mongan was uncooperative.
“He (defendant) totally refused,” said the garda.
“And he asked how much the ticket was because he wasn’t going to pay it anyway.”
Judge Hughes, without commenting on the incident, fined Mr Mongan €400, giving him three months to pay.
