Third suspect to be charged at court sitting in connection to serious assault in Longford town

A third suspect is sue before Longford District Court today charged in connection to a serious incident in Longford town last week.

A third person is due before a court sitting in Longford today in connection with a serious assault of a woman last Wednesday evening.

The male suspect is due before a sitting of Longford District Court where it is expected formal charges will be handed down after a woman was targeted as she left Longford Train Station last Wednesday evening.

A man, who attempted to come to the woman's aid, was also allegedly set upon as a consequence.

He is the third individual to be arrested and charged over the incident.

A man and a woman appeared at a special sitting of Longford District Court on Saturday evening where charges of robbery were issued against them.

John Kelly, of 4 Cluain Ard, Longford and Frances O'Brien, 4 Cluain Ard, Ardnacassa, Longford were charged with robbery at Mollaghan's Car Park, Earl Street, Longford on November 7 2018.

Both were remanded in custody and are due to appear back at a sitting of Longford District Court tomorrow (Tuesday).
