Longford Co Council is advising motorists to exercise caution on the roads today

A number of roads remain closed in Co Longford this afternoon.

A number of roads are still closed in the county this afternoon and motorists are being asked to drive with care. 

In the past few minutes Longford Co Council confirmed that the R393 Regional Road from Carrickboy through Ratharney to county boundary has closed as is the Robinstown Road, Granard;  Rinroe Road and the Ferriskill to Lisryan road. 

"The N55 to Legan is passable but only one lane in operation and we are asking again that drivers exercise extreme caution," a local authority spokesperson concluded.
