"Substantial" haul of power tools and electrical cabling stolen in weekend Longford town burglary

Gardaí are investigating a break-in at the site of a local food manufacturer in Longford town over the weekend

Gardaí are on the hunt for thieves who made off with a large quantity of power tools and electrical cable following a weekend raid at a business premises in Longford town.

The incident, which occurred as building work was taking place at the site of a local food manufacturer, just off the main Ballinalee road took place between 5:20pm on Saturday and 8am this morning.

It's unsure at this stage as to the monetary value of what was taken, but gardaí have described the total haul as being "substantial".

Detectives are hoping CCTV footage from the area might unlock vital clues and identify those responsible after padlocks attached to a number of containers were broken.

Anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious around the main Ballinalee road between the hours mentioned above or those who may have been offered power tools and electrical cable for sale over the past couple of days is asked to contact Longford Garda Station at (043) 3350570.
