The Green Isle Foods Ltd (Goodfella’s Pizza) manufacturing plant on the Ballinalee Road in Longford town has been sold as part of €225 million deal.

It was announced last Wednesday that Nomad Foods, the owners of Birds Eye, Findus and Iglo, has entered into an agreement to acquire Green Isle Foods Ltd (Goodfella’s Pizza) from 2 Sisters Food Group, a subsidiary of Boparan Holdings Ltd.

The business employs approximately 430 people located in two manufacturing sites in Kildare and Longford in Ireland, a Logistics team based in Naas and a commercial team in the UK based in Yorkshire, all of whom will join Nomad Foods on completion of the deal.

Goodfella’s Pizza manufactures and distributes a portfolio of leading branded and private label frozen pizzas in Ireland and the United Kingdom.

The Goodfella’s brand was founded in 1993 and holds number one and number two market share positions within the frozen pizza category in Ireland and the United Kingdom, respectively. The acquisition also includes the San Marco brand.
