Longford solicitor is new Matheson partner

Longford solicitor Kevin Smith has been appointed partner at leading Irish law firm, Matheson, headquartered in Dublin.

Kevin, from Edgeworthstown, specialises in all tax aspects of financial services in Ireland, including securities transactions, debt capital markets, cross-border financing and derivative transactions.

He also advises many of the world’s largest aircraft leasing companies on tax aspects of carrying on aircraft leasing business in or from Ireland.

Kevin is one of 12 new partners appointed at Matheson in the firm’s largest partner promotions round in over a decade.

These partners are leaders in their respective fields, and work with clients in key sectors of the Irish economy in which the firm expects to see growth including: Tax, Regulation, Compliance, M&A, Lending, FinTech, Data Privacy, Cyber Security, MedTech, Commercial Real Estate, and Energy and Infrastructure.

“I am thrilled to be appointed partner and look forward to helping drive the firm’s strategy in these exciting growth sectors,” said Kevin of his appointment.

Kevin is a past pupil of St Mel’s College and holds an LLB and a Bachelor of Corporate Law from NUI Galway.

He first joined the firm, which serves the Irish legal needs of internationally-focused companies and financial institutions doing business in Ireland, as a trainee in 2006.
