Councillor Peter Murphy was first off the mark at last Friday's Committee of Agriculture meeting to register his protest at Agriculture Minister Michael O'Kennedy's announcement to abolish Committees of Agriculture around the country.
Earlier in the week £10,000 had been voted to send members of the Sheep Dip Committee on a sheep scab trip, declared Cllr Murphy and members of Longford County Council could travel “from Billy to Jack”.
“We can't even get money to buy stamps to send out our agendas”, he said “sure it’s absolutely crazy”.
