Longford County Council must ensure it can press ahead with local infrastructural and community based projects without delay when capital funding is made available, it was claimed last week.
Cllr Peggy Nolan issued the call to arms at a meeting of Longford Municipal District last week.
She said it was imperative the Council was well positioned in terms of pressing ahead with locally based ventures as soon as financial support from central government becomes available.
“Each directorate should have five shovel ready projects ready to go when funding comes down,” she said.
Cllr Nolan suggested bringing the discussion before the next meeting of the Council’s Corporate Policy Group (CPG) committee.
“We need to be ready and have projects in mind that would then feed into each Municipal District,” she maintained.
