Longford woman to be honoured at conference

Longford town native and international dance choreographer, Marguerite Donlon, will be honoured at the 16th international conference in Irish German Studies, which takes place in Limerick at the end of the month.

The two day conference will feature academics and leading professionals from the arts as they explore connections between the two countries since the 1920s across various mediums including dance and other art forms.

One of the highlights will be an exhibition from the National Dance Archive on Marguerite Donlon’s work.

Now based in Germany, her choreography has been celebrated on the international dance scene.

She is a daughter of Tom and Johanna Donlon of Brickfield House, Abbeycartron, and retains strong links with the town and was recently home to visit family and friends.
