Midlands homeowners are 'living in fear' over flooding concerns

An ever increasing number of homeowners are “living in fear” over the possibility of a return to the  flooding crisis experienced last year, writes Liam Cosgrove.

Roscommon-Galway TD Eugene Murphy made the claim this week, citing a lack of government intervention as the root cause of the problem.

He said families right across Roscommon and Galway were still waiting for roads and other carriageways to be fully repaired.

 “If the Minister’s office has 500 million over the next five years to deal with this issue then why can Roscommon County Council not get the funding they need to repair roads in the area,” he said.

Mr Murphy  said the €4.5m so far allocated to Roscommon Co Council was “wholly inadequate” given that it required around €11m to carry out repairs.
