Gardaí have seized two vehicles and launched an investigation following an incident in Longford town last week which detectives believe may be linked to an ongoing Traveller-related feud.
They are also appealing for witnesses who may have seen the collision involving a van and a jeep along the main Ballinalee road last Tuesday (August 30) to come forward.
It's understood both vehicles came into contact at a set of traffic lights shortly after lunchtime, resulting in one of the vehicles being pushed into the path of another car.
Gardaí believe both the drivers of the jeep and van fled the scene on foot before officers arrived shortly afterwards.
No arrests have yet been made in connection with the incident though investigators believe the episode is linked to an escalating Traveller feud.
Gardaí are hoping the incident, which unfolded in broad daylight and along one of Longford town's busiest junctions, may have been witnessed by other motorists and pedestrians in the area.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Longford Garda Station at (043) 3350570.
