Longford rural group water schemes primed for €60k cash injection

Rural group water schemes across Co Longford are set for a €60,000 windfall.

The announcement was made under the Government’s 2016. Multi-Annual Rural Water Programme and has been greeted with open arms by Fine Gael TD Peter Burke.

“Today’s announcement is great news for communities in Longford,” said the Longford-Westmeath TD.

“The funding for Longford County Council is aimed primarily towards the improvement of water quality in existing group water schemes in Longford, the takeover of some schemes by Irish Water in cases where the scheme has sought such a takeover, and upgrading and water conservation works in group water scheme distribution networks.”
