Longford Fitness and local fundraiser Ciara Hoare have joined forces once again to bring some colour to Longford on Sunday, September 25.
The second annual Longford Colour Run is set to take place, and fitness fanatics, friends, families, kids and even pets are invited to what promises to be a fun day!
Speaking about last year’s inaugural event, Tess Gillen from Longford Fitness explained that more than three hundred people took part.
“It was brilliant,” she smiled. “We would be hoping that we would get that again.”
As with last year, which raised €8,000 for Temple Street Children’s Hospital and Longford Mental Health Awareness, proceeds from the event will go to charity. Temple Street and Longford Mental Health will benefit again this year, along with the Lakelands Area Retreat and Cancer Centre (LARCC).
Registration gets underway on the day from 9am at Longford Fitness and there will be a DJ and some face painting to get everybody in a colourful mood. Participants will then set off on the 5k. On arrival, the DJ will again welcome everyone back with some music and refreshments will be served. There will also be a raffle, which includes some amazing prizes.
Thanking the local businesses who have supported the fundraiser so far, Tess urged locals to sign up for the event.
“The more the merrier,” she laughed.
Tickets for the Longford Colour Run are currently on sale at Eventbrite.ie or from Longford Fitness. Adult ticket costs €20, child (u12) ticket costs €10. Children under 4 can take part for free, while a family rate of €50 for two adults and three children also applies.
