Longford man was wearing stolen bracelet while being interviewed by gardaí
A man who appeared before Longford District Court recently charged under the Theft & Fraud Offences Act had his case adjourned until September 9, 2016.
Patrick Nugent (28), 12 Berkeley Courtyard, Newtownforbes, Co Longford appeared before Judge Seamus Hughes charged with stealing a rose gold Calvin Klein bracelet valued at €130 at Battery Road, Longford on dates between June 7 and July 15 last.
Outlining the evidence to the court, Inspector Padraig Jones said that on July 15 last Mr Nugent was arrested in relation to a separate matter and while in garda custody was discovered to be wearing a stolen piece of jewellery.
“While he was being interviewed by gardaí, they became suspicious of a piece of jewellery that the defendant was wearing,” continued Inspector Jones.
“It emerged that the piece of jewellery - a rose gold bracelet - had been stolen in a robbery earlier this year.”
After it emerged there was more work to do on the case, Judge Hughes adjourned proceedings until September.
