€10,000 raised at Legan event

For the second year in succession, the Pig Roasting fundraiser at Mitchell’s Bar, Legan has raised in excess of €10,000 for St Luke’s Cancer Care and Research.

The village came to life on Sunday, July 24, as the large crowd enjoyed a great day of family entertainment with live music and food for the adults while the various side attractions gave endless hours of enjoyment to the younger generation.

The centre piece of the day’s activities was the balloon launch, when hundreds of balloons were launched and as each balloon climbed into the evening sky it brought with it a sentimental thought for a loved one that is fighting or has lost the battle with cancer.

The financial success of this fundraiser is only possible through the voluntary help provided in the running of the event, the generosity of the general public in the purchasing of tickets along with all of the businesses that gave sponsorship and spot prizes for the raffle.

The formal presentation to St Luke’s of funds raised will take place at a date to be announced later.
