A local woman was fined €250 for public intoxication after a hearing into the matter at the last sitting of Granard District Court.
Margaret Doran, 54 Mostrim Oaks, Ballymahon Road, Edgeworthstown came before the court accused of public intoxication at Tinnynare, Edgeworthstown on January 29, 2016.
The court heard that at approximately 5.25pm, two members of An Garda Síochána attended the scene after receiving a call to say that a lady, later identified as the defendant, was extremely intoxicated.
Solicitor for Ms Doran, Ms Bríd Mimnagh revealed that her client has a problem with alcohol but despite some health setbacks, is doing well.
“She hasn’t taken a drink in a week, which for her is very good.”
Judge Hughes subsequently fined the defendant €250.
