Lanesboro shocked by tragic death of eight year old Jessica Needham in Mayo farm accident

By Liam Cosgrove
Messages of sympathy have been expressed this afternoon to the family of an eight year old girl with Longford connections who died tragically in a farming accident on Tuesday.
Jessica Needham passed away after she was involved in an accident with a tractor at her home at Lismolin, Islandeady, Co Mayo.
The little girl's mother, Michelle (nee Casey) originally hails from Lanesboro, while her grandmother, Theresa Casey (who is predeceased by her husband Michael) also still lives locally.
So too does her uncle, respected local accountant and chairperson of Lanesboro/Ballyleague Credit Union Donal Casey. While her aunt, Nicola Casey, sister of Michelle and Donal, lives in Sligo.
Lanesboro-based, Longford Independent County Council member Mark Casey, who is unrelated, said the local community had been left numbed by the news of Jessica's sudden and untimely passing.
"It's an awful, awful tragedy that no one wants to come to their door," he said.
"The thoughts and sympathy of the people of Lanesboro are with Jessica's family at this time."
Jessica Needham is survived by her heartbroken parents Pat and Michelle, her sister Grace, grannys, aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbours, relatives and friends.
The late Jessica is reposing at St Aidan’s Room, Islandeady this evening from 5.30pm with removal at 8pm to her residence.
Removal from her residence takes place tomorrow (Friday) for funeral mass at 11am in St Patrick's Church, Islandeady followed by burial afterwards to Islandeady Cemetery.
May she Rest in Peace.
