18 year old dies in N4 road crash

 

An 18 year old man has died following a road crash on the N4 at Cloonart, Bornacoola at 11.50pm on Sunday night.

The teenager was fatally injured when the car he was travelling in, as a front seat passenger, collided with a tractor. He was taken to Mullingar Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver and two other passengers of the car were also brought to Mullingar Hospital.  One of the other passengers sustained serious injuries.  

According to gardai, the driver of the tractor was uninjured.

The road from Newtownforbes to Rooskey roundabout is currently closed  to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.  Diversions are in place via Roosky for traffic coming from Sligo, and Newtownforbes for traffic travelling from Dublin.

Gardai wish to appeal for witnesses to contact Longford Garda Station on 043-3350570, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
