Road closure on N55 between Ballymahon and Edgeworthstown

The N55 between Ballymahon and Edgeworthstown will be closed for two  weeks from Monday next July 18  until  Monday August 1 at 6pm.

In a statement, Longford Co Council said that the closure is to facilitate Bridge Rehabilitation works on the N55 at Fowlards Bridge. This is located on the road to  Ballymahon after Carrickedmond church.  The road at Fowlards bridge will be completely dug up and impassable.

Local Access will be maintained up to either side of the works.



An official diversion will be in place during the two weeks:



·        Traffic from Ballymahon to Edgeworthstown will be diverted at Ballymahon to Kenagh and then onto Longford via Ballymacormack. From Longford they take the N4 to Edgeworthstown.


·        Traffic from Edgeworthstown to Ballymahon will be diverted at Edgeworthstown to Longford via the N4 and then onto Ballymahon via the Athlone Road, N63 to Ballymacormack and then to Kenagh and onto Ballymahon.
