The 17th annual Garden Open Day at the home of Paddy and Mary Gillooley, Mill Road, Drumlish, is set to take place this Saturday, June 11.
Speaking to the Leader ahead of the event, host Mary Gillooley explained that it had started in the year 2000, when a dear friend suggested she host the event for the millenium celebrations.
“It's all about partying, and it's all about tea and homemade goodies,” Mary added. “Anyone can stay as long as they like.”
Over the years, Mary and Paddy have raised crucial funds for a number of worthy charities including the Hospice, St Joseph's, Laura Lynn, the Irish Wheelchair Association and the Irish Cancer Society, with the latter receiving €2,400 from last year's event.
This year, proceeds will be going towards St Christopher's.
Adding that her neighbours and friends have always been extremely generous in supporting the event, Mary extended her thanks to those who have attended and donated to the charities down through the years.
All are invited to attend the garden party, which is open from 11am until 6pm.
Refreshments will be served on the day and admission to the party is optional. All support is appreciated.
