Abbott Longford’s magnificent achievement of securing the top award available for a Medical Device facility was recognised recently by Longford County Council.
In February, Abbott received the Shingo prize, an international award for operational excellence, presented to organisations that demonstrate a culture where principles of operational excellence are deeply embedded in the thinking and behaviour of all leaders, managers and employees.
Speaking at the presentation of a Quality Achievement Scroll, Cathaoirleach of Longford County Council, Cllr Gerry Warnock said it was a great honour for the Abbott plant and by extension for County Longford to achieve such recognition for its facility and its workforce.
He added that “it demonstrates how a town like Longford can accommodate a business that needs highly skilled and highly motivated employees. Abbott Longford has become a key economic driver for Longford and a vital cog in sustaining Longford’s vibrant business and community sectors”. He concluded by stating that the Council would continue to work closely with Abbott to help them grow the Longford plant and he wished them every future success.
