Longford District Court: Sent forward for trial

A man who appeared at last week’s sitting of Longford District Court charged with assault was sent forward for trial to the next sitting of Longford Circuit Court.

Joseph Byrne (36) 26 Crabton Close Road, Bournmount Bh 5 1 Hn, England appeared before Judge Seamus Hughes charged with assaulting two people and causing them harm at Main Street, Edgeworthstown on November 12, 2015.

Garda Liam Doherty told the court that he served the book of evidence in the case on the defendant prior to the court sitting and solicitor Mark Connellan said the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had directed that the defendant be sent forward for trial on indictment to Longford Circuit Criminal Court, the next sessions of which take place on November 1, 2016, he added.

Judge Hughes then issued the defendant with the alibi warning and he was subsequently remanded on continuing bail to appear back at Longford Circuit Court in November.
