Sorrow at passing of Mary Burns, Cullyfad

There is a deep sense of sadness in the community this week following the death of Mary Burns (née McDonnell), Newtownbond, Killoe.

Wife of Mossie and mother of Cillian, Mary passed away on Monday, May 9 following a short illness.

Mary was very well known in the county having worked as a victim support liaison officer and she was also deeply involved in the local community in Cullyfad.

She helped out at the local bingo every week and was a member of the church and choir.

Mary was also very proud of the area in which she lived and was a regular volunteer with the local Tidy Towns and village enhancement committee.

She also supervised the children’s club - The Den - which was held weekly at the local community centre and worked at Séan McGoey’s garage on the Athlone Road for many years.

Mary is survived by Mossie and Cillian as well as her sister Anne (Carrucan), brother Pat, aunt, brothers-in-law, sisters-in law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

May she Rest in Peace.
